The Password Project was conceived by writers and visual artists in Graz, Austria, a recent European Cultural Capital, as a unique means of uniting visual and verbal creativity on a digital canvas through the internet. These nearly forty artists represent more than a dozen nations who exchange inspirations.

The results are a collaboration that reaches across the lines that define nations and seeks a common human voice and a common desire to create beauty through artistic cooperation and celebration, and you can view more online at: http://www.password.or.at/

The Goethe-Institut Washington in cooperation with The Austrian Cultural Forum is pleased to host an exhibition of the Password Project. In this unusual event, works of graphic art are projected on a screen in the Goethe-Institut’s theater and the poems they inspired are read by participating poets Daniel Thomas Moran of the US and Austria’s Walter Hölbling and Gabriele Pötscher. Artists Feng Lei (China) and Ruth Mateus Berr (Austria) are also expected to be present to speak about their artworks.

Other exhibitions have occurred in Austria, Colombia, and Mexico and most recently in Beijing in October 2007.

RSVP to 202-289-1200 ext. 162
