BOOK TALK: 6:30pm - Book Event, Senator Mike Gravel will sign and discuss his new book A Political Odyssey: The Rise of American Militarism and One Man's Fight to Stop It. The former senator from Alaska, expounds on his views of the military-industrial complex, the imperial presidency, and postwar U.S. foreign policy. He critically assesses figures he worked with, such as Jimmy Carter and Ted Kennedy, as well as corporate America. This book reveals the private life behind the public persona.

BOOK TALK: 6:30pm - Book Event, Naomi Klein will sign and discuss Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism. Klein retells the story of the most dominant ideology of our time, Milton Friedman's free market economic revolution. In contrast to the popular myth of this movement's peaceful global victory, Klein shows how it has exploited moments of shock and extreme violence in order to implement its economic policies in so many parts of the world from Latin America and Eastern Europe to South Africa, Russia, and Iraq.
