Pharaoh’s Daughter Live in Concert at Adas Israel
Monday, December 8th at 8:00pm
Free Show for Young Professionals
Reception with free drinks and snacks will follow
I've seen this band perform and a few years back at the DCJCC Jewish Music Festival and was really impressed by the diverse sounds and the blending of past and present, east and west. For those who love middle eastern sounds, spiritual music and bands like Rusted Root, this show is a must see. I am excited to learn that they are giving a free concert and certainly plan to be there!
This free concert is sponsored by YP@AI, Young Professionals at Adas Israel, which was created to reach out to people ages 21– 35 in the DC metro area to bring them together. To learn more about YP@AI, or to join our listserv, contact Elie Greenberg, YP@adasisrael.org
Pharaoh's Daughter: Blending a psychedelic sensibility and a pan-Mediterranean sensuality, Basya Schechter leads her band, Pharaoh's Daughter, through Doors-like improvisations, liturgical chants with Middle Eastern, and spiritual styling filtered through percussion, flute, strings, oud, saz, bass, rhodes and electronica. Their sound has been cultivated by Basya's Hasidic musical background and by trips to the Middle East, Africa, Israel, Egypt, Central Africa, Turkey, Kurdistan and Greece. Pharaohs Daughter has traveled both nationally and internationally, has performed recently at Central Parks Summerstage and at Carnegie Hall.
