Award Ceremony and Book Signing: 2008 Shimada Prize

The winner of the eighth biennial competition of the Shimada Prize for an outstanding publication on the history of East Asian art will be presented to Dr. Patricia Berger, who will receive this distinguished prize for her publication Empire of Emptiness: Buddhist Art and Political Authority in Qing China. During the presentation Berger will briefly discuss her research. She will sign copies of her book immediately following the event.
