One Common Unity: Common Folk Awards Celebration
Saturday, December 13th
At The Peace Mural in Georgetown
7:30pm to 11:00pm
Please Note: This is a Fundraiser
I normally don't post events that aren't free but sometimes an event sounds so good that I can't resist... especially when folks I know are involved, and it's a fundraiser for a great cause!
7:30pm Reception
8:30-11:00pm Program
One Common Unity is a local organization run by Hawah and some other folks I know will also be performing so I wanted to put the word out. It will be held at The Peace Mural in Georgetown and is also co-hosted by two of my favorite eateries in town, Java Green and Busboys & Poets.
The evening will feature performances by the fabulous Kristen Arant and The Young Women's Drumming Empowerment Project and local songstress Courtney Dowe, along with the talents of Omekongo Dibinga, Mikuak Rai, Olu Butterfly, The Cornell West Theory, Ayanna Gregory, Princess of Controversy, Bomani Armah, Jali-D, Kuku, Monica McIntyre, and Brother Ah. Dress Festive; Appetizers provided by Java Green Eco Café & Busboys & Poets;
Suggested Donation is listed as $25. If that is more than you can afford, you may want to call or email to check. Contact Info: 202-529-2125 or email: OneCommonUnity@gmail.com
Advanced Reservations are strongly recommended, via the Contact information above.
