There will be a special presentation of the show "Any One of Us" Women's Words from Prison - by Eve Ensler on Saturday, April 18th at Western Presbyterian Church in Foggy Bottom, 2401 Virginia Ave, NW at 7:00pm. I watched the documentary about the creation of this piece a few years ago and found the stories very moving and powerful. I imagine that this performance will be the same.
About the show: Ensler’s play is based on the stories of women who have been incarcerated. Ensler interviewed these women and created a play based on their stories with the hope of giving voice to their experiences. This play is one way to give these women a space to tell their story and to be recognized as visible and vital members of our community who deserve support. Furthermore, the play raises the complicated, and often painful, issues that lead women to incarceration and honors their humanity. There will be a full performance & post-show discussion.
About the organization: This performance will benefit Our Place, DC, the only support and resource center for DC women who are currently and formally incarcerated. To learn more about the work that they do, click here.
