Yoga on The Mall will take place for the second year in a row this Saturday, May 9th from 2:00-5:00pm at the SW corner of 15th St and Constitution Ave, near the Washington Monument. Nearest metro is Smithsonian. Participants are encouraged to wear loose, comfortable clothing and to bring their own yoga mat or blanket if they have one (some mats will be available, for those without) as well as a pot-luck picnic or snack to enjoy afterwards. Whole Foods will also be donating light refreshments. No previous yoga experience is necessary.
This year, teachers from DC Yoga Week studios will lead participants through a series of gentle, but gradually more challenging poses in twenty minute sessions as follows:
2:00pm - YOTM begins with mini-introduction/welcome
2:00 - 3:20pm - Gentle, introductory yoga, taught by Spiral Flight, Studio Serenity, Tranquil Space & Capitol Hill Yoga (3:20 - 3:30pm Break)
3:30 - 4:50pm -More challenging session, including some backbends (modified for beginners), taught by Flow Yoga Center, VIDA Fitness, Unity Woods Yoga and Bikram Yoga Dupont
4:50 - 5:00pm Closing meditation lead by Circle Yoga
