The ten day long Capital Pride Festival celebrates Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community pride. Capital Pride gives the LGBT community and its allies an opportunity to be visible, gather as a community, celebrate victories, and look forward to the challenges that the community continues to face. The Capital Pride 2009 schedule features a diverse series of events and gatherings, capped with the annual Parade and Festival, June 13-14. Many of the events are held at night clubs and bars and are for the 21 and over crowd. Approximately 250,000 people attend Capital Pride, making it one of the largest LGBT Pride events in the nation.
