The first SACRED DC Festival will take place on Sunday, June 21st, the Summer Solstice, from 10:30am - 7:30pm. I'm helping to organize this festival with some other amazing people and I'm really excited about it. We'll be in Malcolm X/ Meridian Hill Park and inside of the beautiful Josephine Butler Parks Center and we hope you will join us!
The focus of the festival is to integrate healing, the arts and community to transform ourselves and our planet. The day will also remind us to dance, laugh, learn, play and have fun as we connect in solidarity with others.
The day will include live music, drumming, dancing, poetry, healing work and workshops in addition to crafts, green-minded groups, social justice and activism and more! We'll have free yoga classes, including acro-yoga, qigong, contact improv, meditation, reiki and other healing arts as well as vendors, non-profit tables and lots of chances for you to connect with others in a meaningful and fun way. Please try to bring water and your yoga mat if you plan to participate in classes outside.
I'll try to post a more detailed agenda with a list of some of the performers, workshops and classes in the next day or so, please check back for more details! (I've seen the schedule and it looks amazing!) SACRED stands for Solidarity, Arts, Culture, Roots, Earth and Dance. I hope you will join us for this amazing day.

Metro: Columbia Heights, walk down Columbia to 15th or 16th and make a left. Park is at 15th & Euclid. Closest access is the S2, S4 or S9 bus along 16th St or you can take the new Circulator Route to 16th St and Columbia Rd and walk a few blocks down.
Driving: Parking is available in the Harris Teeter Parking lot for a fee on Kalorama or you should be able to easily find free street parking on Sundays along 16th or the side streets nearby, be sure to leave your car empty inside so nothing is visible from the windows, just to be on the safe side, it's a good city rule in general.
