Experience Global Movement With Dance Festival DC
The DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities will be hosting 50 dance performances at 14 venues around the District from August 28-30 for FREE. Through this yearly festival, the Commission exposes District residents to a wide array of folk and
traditional music and dance from around the world alongside workshops. Some genres include hip-hop, salsa, swing, tango and many more. Performances and interactive workshops (first come, first served) will be FREE to the public over three-days.
This year Dance DC Festival opening night theme, Live! A Bollywood Experience, will be held at the Atlas Performing Arts Theater. This night captures the essence of Bollywood fusing Hindu and Western dance expressions. Closing the weekend will be East Meets West at the Heritage Center at The Navy Memorial, in Downtown, DC. An explosive performance blends the massive moves of West Africa with the rich tradition of the Middle East. Ending this show, there will be a special dance tribute to the late, Michael Jackson.
