PAST: MOVIES: Last Chance for "Screen on the Green" this MON, August 10th "Rebel Without a Cause" Free Film Screening on The Mall, 8:30pm

Screen on the Green is a favorite Washington, DC summer tradition. Bring a blanket to the National Mall on a warm night and watch a classic film on a gigantic movie screen. Films are shown on Monday nights beginning at dusk, around 8:30-9:00 p.m. People start to claim their spots on the lawn as early as 5 p.m. Movies play except in extreme weather and there are no rain days.

Washington came dangerously close to losing Screen on the Green after funding for the activity fell through earlier this spring. The Trust for the National Mall has come forward to support Screen on the Green along with HBO and Comcast with the hope that they can use the event to unite Americans in a grassroots effort to help restore the National Mall. Before each movie, the Trust will air public service announcements about how viewers can help preserve and protect the National Mall for future generations. Read more about the Future of the National Mall.

Monday, August 10th is the final screening
"Rebel Without A Cause"

National Mall between 4th and 7th Streets
Metro: Archives/Navy Memorial, Smithsonian or L'Enfant Plaza. Public parking is very limited in this part of the city.
