PAST: Video Art Special Event THURS, August 20th at The Phillips Collection, 5:00pm - 8:00pm, Donation Based!

Update!I just called and it turns out the Thurs eves are pay-what-you-can donation based and that includes the After 5 event as well as the permanent exhibitions in the museum. If you want to see the current special exhibit on the third floor, the regular admission rate applies. $12 general, $10 students and seniors, free for members.

More about the museum here. Note, in the fall the museum stays open late on the first Thursday of the month and is donation based for the museum though you will need to pay full admission to see the special exhibit.

Video Art: Washington video artists John Bowen of Videokiller, Robin Bell, and Dissident Display collaborate to create live projections, mixing and distorting original and found video with music. In collaboration with Dissident Display.

The evening also includes:

*Live Jazz until 8:00pm – John Kocur Quartet plays original music sprinkled with classics by Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, and Antonio Carlos Jobim
*Artisanal Gelato and Sorbet Tasting with Moorenko’s boutique ice cream (they have a shop on Georgia Ave. I have been to and their ice cream is delicious!)
* Free Light appetizer buffet (this is a pretty nice spread actually) by Geppetto’s Catering
* Cash Bar offering wine and beer
* Film Screening at 6:00pm and 7:00pm: The South Bank Show, Francis Bacon: The intimate interviews in this landmark documentary reveal the lifestyle and inspirations behind Bacon’s haunting paintings. 1985, directed by David Hinton, 55 minutes
