"This is an exceptionally talented pianist. He's also a tenor vocalist. Carlos also speaks seven languages fluently, does jokes and impersonations. He learns everything by ear, because he's been blind since just after birth after receiving too much oxygen in the Intensive Care Unit." -Peggy Fox, WUSA Channel 9
Carlos was born premature, weighing just 1lb 14oz. He barely survived his 3 month stay inside incubator. His gift of music was evident as early as 2yo when he climbed the organ and produced the “Twinkle! Twinkle! Little Star” with his tiny fingers at the keyboard. He studied with Thomas Schumacher, then at U Md and currently teaching at the Eastman Conservatory of Music in Rochester, NY. Carlos is now studying with Dr. Thomas Mastroanni, former dean of the Music Dept at the Catholic University. The demanding challenges of life caused by blindness have hardly discouraged his desire to perform. Whether the venue be a concert or cabaret or be it popular or improvisatory, Carlos’ charisma, wit and the infectious joy imparted through his music make him one of the most unusual and sought after young performer today.
