PAST: TALK: Applying for Disability Benefits from the SSA this MON, Dec 7th at Smith Farm, Noon - 2:00pm, Free
I found this one on the Smith Farm Calendar and thought I'd pass it on. Though it is a talk geared toward those dealing with cancer who are considering applying for social security disability benefits, it is also relevant for anyone with a disability who thinks that they may be eligible and is trying to figure out the application process. The event will be held at Smith Farm and will feature a representative from the Social Security Administration.
Everything You Wanted or Needed To Know About Applying for Disability

Many cancer patients are uncertain of employment in the short or long term. This worry can cause undue stress, especially for those with dependents. Healthcare workers are often asked questions about disability: qualifications and how to seek benefits. The bureaucracy of the SSA can be overwhelming, but Diana Varela will explain how to navigate the system and answer your questions. This program will provide valuable information to patients, community and city-wide navigators, as well as social workers.
