The Corner Store is hosting DC's finest slam poets to compete one-night, high energy, cutthroat poetry slam. A panel of diverse judges from the audience will score the poets olympic-style from 0 to 10 on content, creativity and performance. The top 5 POETS will go on to represent the DC metro area in the Southern Fried Poetry Slam in Knoxville, Tennessee this June 2-5, 2010. Refreshments, Wine and light fare are provided by the Corner Store as part of an amazing evening.

This event will be hosted by San Francisco Bay Area Grand Slam Champion Denise Jolly, who is also a critically acclaimed artist a member of Saltlines, a nationally touring feminist/activist/radical spokenword troupe. DC's own Mothertongue poets and members of Capturing Fire will be opening for the slam!

This is an Open Slam, all interested in being a part of the DC Team who are local to the area can compete in this 3 round qualifier.
