Closing Party at Civilian
Saturday, July 3rd
10:00pm
$5 cover includes drinks

Civilian Art Projects hosts a party with DJs Jim Q, Kalani, and Pink Manes LouLou and celebrates the last day of the Exquisite Corpse exhibition and 3.7 years of Civilian Art Projects. This will be their last event in the downstairs space as they prepare to move upstairs. You are invited to join them for fun, music, projected visuals, and summer refreshments. Note that there is a cover of $5 that will go to support expenses for the party.

About the show.... Civilian Art Projects is pleased to present Exquisite Corpse - a collaborative photo project curated by Corcoran Photography alums Jessica Cebra, Dave Gustine, and Marissa Long. Invented by Surrealists in 1925, the Exquisite Corpse method involves a group of collaborators assembling a collection of words or images - each collaborator adds to a composition in sequence, either by following a rule or by being allowed to see only the end of what the previous person has contributed. The show will remain on view from June 24th - July 3rd.

Page Carr, Untitled

While the Exquisite Corpse being exhibited at Civilian Art Projects utilizes the method most commonly seen in the writing exercise, words have been substituted here with images. Participating photographers are based in DC, New York, California, and as far away as China and South Africa.
