Tonight, The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program Live Performance at the Kennedy Center will feature 20 of the the 2010 U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts, chosen through the YoungArts™ competition conducted by the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts.

"Each year, the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars appointed by the President selected the scholars based on their academic success, artistic excellence, essays, school evaluations and transcripts, as well as evidence of community service, leadership, and demonstrated commitment to high ideals. And after talking with a select group of Scholars, you can see why they’re amazing: they are incredibly well-rounded, serve as captains of a few high school sports teams, and give back to the community either by teaching English abroad, rebuilding homes affected by Hurricane Katrina, helping cleanup in the Gulf Coast because of the oil spill, or volunteer at rehabilitation centers for former Los Angeles gang members."
