The 3nd Annual Armistice Day Commemoration & Peace Vigil will take place on the evening of Sunday, July 25, 2010, (6:25pm – Candle lighting at 7:27PM - 8:00pm), at the Lincoln Memorial in front of the Reflecting Pool, next to the National Korean War Memorial. This historical event is taking place in order to commemorate the 57th anniversary of the ceasefire treaty signed on July 27, 1953, and in hopes to promote remembrance, recognition, and reconciliation of the Korean War. There will be special performances and speakers (including a keynote by KWVA President Bill MacSwain, and following remarks by Korean American Virginia delegate Mark Keam). Candles and light refreshments will be provided.
The group is still looking for volunteers to come out and help collect stories from the Korean War Veterans (who will be flying in from nationwide)! Learn more at www.Remember727.org
