Screening of My Tehran for Sale by Granaz Moussavi from the Global Lens 2010 film series to kick off the Global Lens 2010 DC Educational Tour- Sharing Culture through Film!
The movie centers around a young, aspiring actress named Marzieh living in Tehran who must conceal her true artistic identity under an Iranian regime that is oppressive towards women. She falls in love with an Iranian native (Saman) who recently received citizenship in Australia. As their love grows, she must decide either to combat the mounting threat of living a life of repression and silence or to flee her home and begin life anew with her beloved. This wavering and rather dangerous divide is not the only one haunting her.
