Come out and hear Carolyn Malachi's unique genre-bending blend of jazz, Hip Hop, R&B, and spoken word at her EP Release Party this Friday night. Also performing that night... World grooves by The Pinstriped Rebel and Appearances by DC's Taratibu Youth Association and DJ Heat. A portion of the proceeds will support the Taratibu Youth Association and BloomBars, two arts non-profits based in Washington, DC. There will be a Post-Party Fete at Social on 14th & Meridian in NW.
Her new EP, “Lions, Fires, and Squares,” features new songs about relationships, love, and the strength of being a powerful woman. The EP includes six new tracks: an intro, three new singles, and two remixes and is influenced by Carolyn's recent tour in South Africa with artist and activist Hip Hop Pantsula (HHP).
More about the artist: The Washington Post describes Malachi’s infectious musical gumbo as "Hard to Put in Words," and the Washington Post Magazine hinted at her possible Grammy nomination in its "Our Town" feature. In 2010, Malachi was selected as an Artist in Bloom Resident Fellow at BloomBars, an arts organization based in Columbia Heights working to support and nurture artists across the globe. She has performed at the Blues Room in Johannesburg, South Africa, and at Blues Alley and Love Nightclub in DC. Malachi is the great-granddaughter of legendary jazz pianist, John Malachi, and she holds a Degree in Business Administration from Shepherd University.
