PAST: Special Event to Commemorate 9/11 at MLK Library this SAT, Sept 11th at 1:00pm, Featuring Poetry & Performance by Collective Voices, Free

Special Poetry event to Commemorate 9/11
“Poems to Heal and Honor a Nation”
Saturday, September 11th

The event will feature the poetry ensemble, “Collective Voices,” known for socially-conscious messages of empowerment and inspiration, who will debut their “9-1-1 Trilogy: Sacred Messages of Healing,” at the event. The group is composed of J. Joy “Sistah Joy” Matthews Alford, Andre “Brenardo” Taylor, and Sylvia Dianne “Ladi Di” Beverly. Musical accompaniment will be provided by Doc Powell, Sydney March, James “Curly” Robinson and Baritone Jason Okera Keene.

The program will be at the Martin Luther King, Jr Memorial Library near the Chinatown metro, 9th & G exit. The event will open with the posting of the Colors by Dunbar Senior High School JROTC Color Guards and the singing of the National Anthem by baritone Jason Okera Keene.
