"Columbia Heights-based restaurant/beer garden Mad Momos kicks off their Inaugural Art Opening with a show by New York-based artist Lee Patrick Johnson. Johnson will be showcasing his artwork and artisanship, which ranges from ceramics to installation pieces. His boundaries are limitless....so inevitably the pieces will be a smear of culture, color and ideas constructed of anything from pure 24-carat gold and porcelain to automotive paint and home furnishing supplies."

The Shambhala Center in Cleveland Park will be offering brief workshops, demos, and lectures, some of which are specific to their community such as Ikebana and calligraphy. Enjoy poetry, music, dance and more!

Workshops will be offered in the morning and late afternoon. From 1:00pm - 2:30pm Sakyong "the head of the Shambhala Buddhist lineage and Shambhala International, a worldwide network of urban Buddhist meditation centers, retreat centers, monasteries, a university, and other enterprises, founded by his father, the Buddhist teacher Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche (XI Trungpa Tulku). Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche is a high lama in the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism" will be speaking, and they expect that this will draw a large crowd.

Workshops will be held in the main shrine room and small shrine room concurrently. Feel free to attend any workshop you want or stay the whole day. No RSVPs necessary.  The Shambhala Center will also be offering art and music activities for children, facilitated by Sharon Doetsch-Kidder from 11:00am - 12:00pm in the Director’s Office.
