If you like World-Beat, Jamband, Rock, Jazz, Kirtan, Folk, Indian, Trance or Gospel... you may want to check out Groovananda. "Groovananda (which means “the bliss of the groove") is a yoga rock band that has influences including funk, jazz, yoga and Indian music. Fronted by yoga music pioneer Wynne Paris on harmonium, guitar and Sarod; the band moves from meditative spaces to exuberant and funky call and response jams. Guitarist and Yoga teacher Kelly Fisher offers up riffs and Asanas and percussionist Wes Crawford lays down the beat." "Djesben is a trio of multi-instrumentalists whose diverse backgrounds combine to create an original sound dubbed “World Jazz Groove.” The instruments of Djesben are not those of the typical trio: Topher Dunne plays the Chapman Stick, a 10-string tapping instrument with the range of a piano; Katy Gaughan plays a battery of percussion centered around her conga drums, the tall, wide-bellied hand drums of Latin music; Christian Crowley plays the dulcimer, a small stringed instrument from the Appalachian mountains that can be strummed like a guitar or bowed like a violin."

Brought to you by Artomatic, Cultural DC, Dance Metro DC, Center for the Creative Economy, Contradiction Dance, and Recreative Spaces. Organized and facilitated by Leslie Zucker, Trainer, Facilitator and Life Coach for Life's Dancers.

"However you define "dance" (concert dance, social dance, competitive dance, street dance, whatever!) and however you define "space", (for living, dancing, rehearsing, touring, hosting, traveling, whatever!) if you have needs, wants, ideas about space for dance and dancers in the metro DC area, come talk about them!"

"The beginning (starting at 5:30pm) is very important - don't miss that part! It's when you will propose topics of interest to you that others will join.  The spirit of this event is that you are either inspired and learning or inspiring and contributing something interesting and related to space for dance and dancers. If, at any time, that is not true, then you are encouraged to change to a different conversation where it is. There are no "key-note speakers" or other presentations, it's truly a chance for you to be in conversations. It's a highly participatory experience and you are needed to make it work!"
