Free and by donation

Theater

Constellation Theatre Company offers Pay-What-You-Can performances of Tom Stoppard's On The Razzle, which opens officially on Feb. 3rd. Half of the PWYC tickets, about 50, are available for purchase online for $10, or you can wait and just buy tickets at the box office starting around 7:00pm. The show starts at 8:00pm.

The show will be at the Source Theatre, located on 14th St near T St, NW and just two blocks from the U St Metro, also accessible by the Circulator bus Woodley-McPherson Route to 14th and U St.

Music and Poetry Open Mic Night

It's the "Sounds of Hope" monthly Open Mic night at the Potter's House in Adams Morgan, hosted by my friend, Mary Shapiro. The stage is open for musicians and poets of all ages from 7:30pm to 10:30pm, and there's even a piano on site. Donations support the Sopa A Las Dos program, which serves free soup every Monday through Friday at 2:00pm.

The Potter's House is located at 1658 Columbia Rd, NW. Bus: 42 to Mozart Pl, Metro: Walk or take the Circulator bus to the stop by the Safeway from Woodley Park or Columbia Heights. It's closer to Columbia Heights.

Cabaret Night

BloomBars' hosts their first ever Theatre Cabaret! Fifteen aspiring and working actors perform songs and monologues in this open-mic style event from 8:00 to 10:00pm. All ages welcome. Donations encouraged.

BloomBars is located at 3222 11th St, NW near Kenyon, walking distance from the Columbia Heights Metro.

DJ Night - Goth, Glam and Darkwave

Close to the H Street Corridor in NE, Jimmy Valentine’s hosts "Wasteland," featuring my friends D.J. Strange and D.J. Medusa spinning darkwave and goth tunes. Music starts at 10:00pm and this is a 21+ event. See note below about getting there.

Jimmy Valentines is located at 1103 Bladensburg Rd, NE between the New York Avenue and Union Station Metro stops, just over 1 mile from each. Since the H Street Shuttle is no longer running, the only way to get there without a car is by taking a cab from the metro or the B2 bus. I'd personally suggest that you just splurge on a taxi from the metro, especially if you are going with friends. Also note that Jimmy Valentine's has an unmarked door so if you haven't been there before, don't be afraid to go in.
