UPCOMING & ONGOING: YOGA & MEDITATION: More Free & Low-Cost Yoga & Meditation Classes at Yoga Studios in DC and Metro VA & MD!

Free & Low Cost Community Yoga Classes in DC!
Below is a list of some of the more popular studios that offer free, donation-based, and reduced price yoga classes as part of their weekly schedules.

Saturday lunchtime
Circle Yoga - Friendship Heights/ Chevy Chase
Free Community Class on Saturdays 12:30pm - 1:30pm (except during session breaks). More here. All donations benefit the teacher’s charity of choice. No advance registration. Friday late afternoon
Down Dog Yoga - Georgetown
One hour Community Class on Fridays at 4:30pm I believe they ask fro $10 for drop in folks and $6 for students and I am pretty sure this is a heated yoga studio so you may want to call them to check. Description online simply says:  "These fun classes are taught by our teachers-in-training. Following our all-levels format, these classes offer an opportunity for you to support the development of our teachers in training, and at the same time offer a reduced rate as an opportunity to give back to the broader yoga community." Every day - select classes $10
Studio Serenity / Studio DC Adams Morgan and Dupont Circle
$10 community classes at both locations every day of the week These two yoga studios are run by the same people and have a strong commitment to making yoga accessible to everyone in the community, regardless of income, with $10 community yoga classes, usually offered between 12:00pm and 1:30pm Monday - Friday and Saturdays & Sundays between 4:00pm and 6:45pm. Thursday late night in Arlington + 
Wednesday late afternoon and the Second Sunday afternoon in Dupont 
Tranquil Space - Arlington, VA near Virginia Sq Metro and Dupont Circle 17th St locations
In Arlington, VA only, $10 Yoga On the Go every Thursday from 8:30pm - 9:30pm. In Dupont Circle $5 Class every Wednesday at 4:30pm and on the Second Sunday on the month 3:30pm - 4:30pm, all-levels class, donations benefit different charities each month and feature different teachers each month as well. $5 suggested.

Friday night in Bethesda
Unity Woods - Bethesda, MD - additional locations in Woodley Park, and Arlington, VA in Ballston
$5 Community class on Fridays, 6:00pm - 7:00pm at the Bethesda, MD location only. Details here.

Circle Yoga - Friendship Heights/ Chevy Chase
Monday Night Mindfulness every Monday from 7:00pm - 8:30pm, and an early Intro for newcomers on the first Monday of the month at 6:15pm. Donation based Loving Kindness Meditation class on Saturdays from 1:15pm - 1:45pm taught by Andres Meneses.

  1. St. Mark's Yoga Center on Capitol Hill at 3rd and A Streets SE is offering Free Yoga Friday until the end of June 2012. The class is from 7 - 8am in the beautiful upstairs Dance Studio and taught by Alex Rosen, who studied with Yogi Hari. Mats, blankets and blocks are free of charge. All levels welcome. As non-profit Yoga Center, our other regular classes are offered at very affordable cost. SMYC has been offering Peace since 1978. http://www.stmarks.net/music-and-arts/yoga
