"Uncomfortable Conversations" uses live theatrical presentations to build awareness and spark a dialogue around teen dating violence. Maryland Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown will deliver the opening remarks at the event.

"Uncomfortable Conversations" - a collection of four short plays and an interactive workshop - will premiere at a town hall style event. The eve will feature live performances and panel discussions led by local community leaders and will also have resource tables to connect community members to organizations that focus on domestic violence. Each play focuses on a different interaction among young people affected by dating violence including:  conversations with the victim (male or female), conversations with friends, conversation with parents, and an inner monologue — a peek into the mind of the abuser.

Following each performance, a panel of experts will answer questions and help provide guidance about how to deal with these issues and where to turn for help. Schools, churches, community groups and youth serving organizations are encourage to bring young people to this special event.
