The Stand Up for Trees workshop is designed for residents of DC who want to protect D.C.’s tree canopy. During the class, participants will learn how to engage with local officials and agencies to enact change in our neighborhoods and city and to keep DC green.
Learn more about the state of DC’s trees, how the local government is organized, and who the key players are that help to manage our trees in public spaces and techniques for engaging these key officials and agencies to encourage them to protect and increase the amazing tree canopy in your neighborhood and throughout the city. Afterwards, you will be able to speak with current Casey Trees volunteers and Tree Advocates to learn of their experiences advocating for trees.
Who Should Attend? Open to all, especially recommended to those interested in advocating for the urban canopy or becoming a Citizen Forester as this is a Citizen Forester qualifying course. ISA Continuing Education Credits are also available. While this class will be focusing on how to be an advocate for DC’s trees, residents from outside of the District will also benefit from learning about the challenges of managing an urban forest.
