Fun for folks of all ages. The performance will include a participatory demonstration.
Created in 1994 as a cross-cultural exchange program with the Soweto Dance Theatre of Johannesburg, South Africa, Step Afrika! fuses traditional African gumboot dance, practiced by South African mine workers, with "stepping," a percussive style of dance originated by African American college students.
Presented in conjunction with the National Geographic Museum exhibition America I AM: The African American Imprint. Tickets to the exhibit, which will be open until 7:00pm on Saturday, are $6 – $12. Discount tickets for certain days can also be found on TICKETPLACE.org.
