The 9/11 Arts Project is a collaboration of artists, social activists, non-profits and interfaith groups in the greater Washington metropolitan area that explores individual, community and global healing 10 years after 9/11.
Initiated by Smith Center for Healing and the Arts, a DC nonprofit arts, health, and education organization, the citywide project kicks off a "year of healing" this September with multi-genre events, from performing arts like dance and literary readings, facilitated dialogues, concerts and film screenings, to interfaith services, art exhibitions and more, at venues across the city. Project performances and fine arts events focus on such themes as multiculturalism, religious tolerance, and community engagement, with creativity and healing at the center of it all.
