It's a bit tricky getting to the Kennedy Center by 6:00pm I realize, during rush hour especially. So, I wanted to be sure that you all know that you can also stream the shows and watch them live from the comfort of your home, office or wherever you happen to be at that hour! I use this feature often and LOVE it!
They also archive all of the performances so you can watch them online anytime so instead of just visiting YouTube, Hulu and Netflix, you can also check out the Archives from the Millennium Stage! MLK CELEBRATION WEEKEND!
Friday, August 26th
IN THE CONCERT HALL
Gospel legends Maggie Ingram and the Ingramettes of Richmond, Virginia—whose career in gospel music spans nearly 55 years—a cappella group Naturally 7, and urban jazz harmonicist Frédéric Yonnet kick off a three-day celebration of the dedication of the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial.
Yonnet is best known for his strong improvisational skills and ability to play chromatically on a diatonic harmonica. He's performed with Prince, Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, John Legend and Kindred The Family Soul.
NOTE: This performance is FREE, tickets are required. Reserved seating tickets, two per person, will be distributed on the day of the performance, beginning at 4 p.m. in the Hall of Nations.
Saturday, August 27th
Founded by Smalls to preserve the unique melodies and storytelling of South Carolina’s Gullah culture, The Hallelujah Singers perform an evening of music and narration in celebration of the new Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial.
Sunday, August 28th
The Dream Remix with Holly Bass
Holly Bass, joined by a DJ and cadre of wordslingers, hosts a poetic celebration of the new Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial through verse highlighting Dr. King’s dream of a nation dedicated to justice, equality, and ending war.
