Free Belarus -DC, MLK Day Event - Reading at the DC JCC
Monday, January 17th
7:30pm
Free

In an act of support and solidarity for artistic freedom and international human rights, DC area theater artists will present Free Belarus – DC, a reading of Being Harold Pinter, the newest work by Belarus Free Theater—a group recently in hiding, following massive government crackdowns on democratic dissent and free expression in the republic of Belarus.

Being Harold Pinter incorporates transcripts from Belarusian political prisoners with excerpts from Harold Pinter's lifetime of writings. This play from Belarus Free Theatre blurs the boundaries between art and reality, delivering a poignant contemporary commentary on violence, oppression, freedom and human dignity.

The reading tonight will feature local actors Leigh Jameson, Mark Krawczyk, The Wire’s Delaney Williams, Helen Hayes nominees Ian Armstrong, Rana Kay, Marni Penning, and Helen Hayes award winner Will Gartshore.

Space is limited, and tickets can be reserved by emailing: FreeBelarusDCtix@gmail.com.
