Weekend East City Event Round Up: Post-ArtVentures on H Glow Edition

Though many of us are all still reeling from the excitement of the second ArtVentures on H, the fun continues this weekend. This Saturday, CHAW gives you the opportunity to make your own artwork while Art Enables celebrates their ninth birthday at their new Brookland location. On Sunday, end the weekend with a photography exhibit at Park Café by local photographer Ann Thomson.

Saturday, February 26

CHAW, The Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (545 7th St, SE) is hosting a few events:

CHAW teams up with SCRAP for an eco-art jewelry workshop with two sittings at 10:00am and 11:00am. Learn to recycle plastic containers into beautiful colorful earrings! Use plastic containers, credit and gift cards and other plastic "trash" to make fabulous jewelry. Call CHAW at 202.547.6839 to reserve your seat.

From 4pm - 6pm CHAW will host free happy hour event to benefit the SOME (So Others Might Eat) Empty Bowls Project. Come prepared to get a little messy (aprons are available) and learn how to make handmade bowls using coils, press molds, and slabs. For those more experienced throwing wheels will be available.

Art Enables will be celebrating their ninth birthday with a raffle, food and music from 3pm to 5pm. The proceeds will help benefit their continued work to help developmentally challenged individuals thrive as working artists. New work by the artist, the highlight of the evening, will also be on display. For a list of raffled items, click here.

Sunday, February 27

Park Café (106 13th St, SE) will host a small reception from 5:30pm to 6:30pm for Ann Thomson, a local photographer and member of the Capitol Hill Art League. Artist will be in attendance and as always, delicious Chilean wine will be served.
