One of Wyeth’s most important paintings, Wind from the Sea(1947), a recent gift to the Gallery, is celebrated in an exhibition that focuses upon his frequent use of the window as a subject. Wyeth returned to windows repeatedly, producing more than 300 works that explore the formal and conceptual richness of looking both in and out of windows. Some 60 of these watercolors, drawings, and tempera paintings are on view, many for the first time.
