PAST: MUSIC: Chamber Music Concert with Czech Violinist Josef Spacek at The Alden McLean Community Center in VA this SUN, Nov 23rd at 3:00pm, Free
This concert will feature young Czech violinist Josef Spacek, who is fast emerging as one of the most talented virtuosos of his generation. A student of Ida Kavafian and Jaime Laredo at the Curtis Institute of Music and Itzhak Perlman at the Juilliard School, he was laureate of the International Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels and the winner in 2009 of the Michael Hill International Violin Competition in New Zealand. He currently combines a flourishing solo career with the position of concert master of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2013 the Supraphon label released his first recital recording of works by Janacek, Smetana and Prokofiev, and Naxos released his recording of works by H. W. Ernst. He plays a Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume violin made in 1855.
