exhibition on view at the National Gallery
On view through Monday, May 30th
"The city of Venice inspired a school of competitive "view painters" whose achievements count among the most brilliant in 18th-century art. The exhibition celebrates the rich variety of these Venetian views, known as vedute, with 21 masterworks by Canaletto and 34 by his rivals."
