In commemoration of DC Black Pride and Capital Pride, The Downtown Players will pay tribute to several youth lost to suicide through a performance of song, dance, poetry and special readings. During the evening they will shed light on the deaths of Seth Walsh, Raymond Chase, Asher Brown, Billy Lucas, Justin Aaberg, and most notably Tyler Clementi, the Rutgers University student who took his life after he was humiliated by being publicly and virally outed by his roommate. His death brought national attention to an issue that has plagued the gay community for decades.
The show will include performances by Isaac Marsh, Jade Foster, Damien Carter, Shaunice Alston and many more. Popular events promoter, Breeze Bennett of Live OUT Events and Ebone Bell, Founder of B.O.I. Marketing & Events Promotions and the Capital Queer Prom, will give special readings on some of the lost youth.
