The Wednesday Night Meditation Group at BloomBars is delighted to have Nobel Prize nominee Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne - known as "The Gandhi of Sri Lanka" - coming this Wednesday night to lead a guided meditation and short talk, followed by a discussion. Please arrive early as the guided meditation is scheduled to begin at 7:00pm and will last for about 20 minutes. It will be followed by a short talk on the theme of "meditation as the inner service and service as the outer meditation" followed by a Q&A, snacks and socializing.
Even at 84 years old, Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne is actively traveling and delivering the message of Gandhi just as he did while he was in 20's. He's in the U.S. now giving talks at Harvard University, Princeton University, Brandeis University and the World Bank... and BloomBars!
Almost completely unknown outside of Sri Lanka, Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne, founder of the Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement of Sri Lanka. A true peace advocate, he walks in the footsteps of Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi, and the Dalai Lama in an effort to rally ordinary citizens to see the spiritual wisdom of looking beyond their own salvation to help ensure the salvation of others. Dr. Ariyaratne won the Gandhi Peace Prize in 1996, the Niwano Peace Prize, the King Beaudoin Award and many other international honors for his work in peace making and village development. You can read more about him on the invite and on Wikipedia.
