"Governing the Global Drug Wars"
Thursday, April 25th
3:00pm - 4:30pm

"Since 1909 the international community has worked to eradicate the use of certain narcotics. A century on, the efforts are widely acknowledged to have failed, and worse, have spurred black market violence and human rights abuses. How did this drug control system arise, why has it proven so durable in the face of failure, and is there hope for reform? These are the questions the recent London School of Economics IDEAS 'Governing the Global Drug Wars' report addresses."

Join IPS' Drug Policy Project for a Washington DC report launch and discussion about the Governing The Global Drug Wars report with report editor John Collins of London School of Economics and drug policy expert Coletta Youngers of Washington Office on Latin America.  An audience discussion about the international drug control system, moderated by IPS Fellow and director of the Drug Policy ProjectSanho Tree, will follow.
