Enjoy a night of Indian classical arts from Bharatanatyam, a dance form originating in the ancient temples of Tamil Nadu, to Hindustani music, an art form made famous by its prevalence in the Mughal era, to Kathak, a dance form tracing its origins to the nomadic bards of ancient northern India.  

Chinmaya Organization for Rural Development USA at American University hosts a Charity Gala to fundraise for a 1.5 month summer service trip to a village in Tamaraipakkam, Tamil Nadu, and for refurbishments to a computer lab used by the community there. 

Performers include: 
  • Nistha Raj, a distinguished Hindustani violin teacher and performer who has performed at the United Nations, the Kennedy Center, and the Indian Embassy in DC as well as internationally at the US embassies in Poland, Canada, and Colombia. 
    • Puja Balachander, a Bharatanatyam dancer who has performed extensively in CA, DC, and India, and completed her solo-debut performance in 2012. 
    • Ashyka Dave, a reputed Kathak dancer, and a student of Kathak master Pandit Chitresh Das. 
    CORD USA is a secular non-profit the aims to promote holisitc, grassroots level development in rural India. CORDUSA @AU is a university branch of this nonprofit that aims to promote CORD USA's mission through its activities.
