Touchstone member artists turn their gaze to windows; those looking to the outside; those looking inward; those that are cloudy; those that are clear; those that are broken. They express a multitude of views in painting, original prints, sculpture, ceramics, collage, and drawing. Natalie Kreidieh, an Arab filmmaker and photographer, exposes the different faces and places beneath the many regions of our planet. TouchStone Gallery presents a wall filled with faces of nature captured by Natalie Kreidieh through her travels in Guatemala, Ecuador, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka. ‘Breathing Earth’ consists of Kreidieh’s portrait and landscape documentary photographs, each inhaling a breath of life.

The show will be on display until June 7th
Celebrate the opening of "day/dream" a collaborative project between Washington DC area poets and members of the Art & the Book program at the Corcoran College of Art+Design at Open Studio. The DC area poets join students and faculty from the Art & the Book program at the Corcoran College of Art+Design to present their collaborative broadside portfolio day/dream with a reading of their work at 7:30pm. The completed portfolio as well as individual prints will be available for sale at the opening. This year the poets and the artists explored the parameters of the sleep state. This is a familiar theme in both art and literature and encompasses anything that is generated by the unconscious–dreams, hallucinations, even daydreams. First, each writer wrote a poem, then the poem was assigned to a book artist who produced and designed one sheet of the eight-page portfolio.
The poets selected are well-known to those in the Washington literary community and include Grace Cavalieri, Buck Downs, Cathy Eisenhower, Mel Nichols, Phyllis Rosenzweig, Casey Smith, Rod Smith, and Bernard Welt. Artists include: Magdalena Cordero, Georgia Deal, Carlos Edmonds, Julie Garcia, Kerry McAleer-Keeler, Amy Nichols, Alice Powers, and Julie Sheah. Previous year’s collaborative portfolios are in the collections of The Library of Congress, the Gelman Library at GWU and the Beineke Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Yale University
