From the invite: "Ever wonder where DC gets most of its electricity? Join BloomBars and Citizens Climate Lobby for a film that looks at coal energy and controversial methods of coal mining. The Last Mountain (2011, 95 min) (view trailer) focuses on the devastating effects of mountaintop removal in West Virginia and the David vs. Goliath battle of local residents against the power of Big Coal mining corporations."
"After the film, please join yiming and Nils of Citizens Climate Lobby DC, Mike Little, Director of Faith and Money Network, and Emily Conrad, Community Outreach Coordinator for Clean Currents for a film and a discussion on the fight for the last great mountain in Appalachia and a battle for the future of energy that affects us all."
BloomScreen Indie Film Night – is a weekly series of independent and foreign films, accompanied by discussions with filmmakers and other experts. Our goal is to provide a unique experience that a local Cineplex cannot – an opportunity for discussion that allows a better understanding of issues affecting our communities and our world. If you are interested in helping out in any way, they are also looking for volunteers to help out, email jonathan@bloombars.com if you are interested in supporting BloomScreen.
