Masankho Banda, from Malawi is back for the third year to perform at the Potters House. He'll be sharing tales of Africa and incorporating them into lessons for us here in DC. Masankho will also be presenting interactive "interplay" workshops, which you can learn about in advance on his website! Also performing at the celebration is Bokamoso, which means future, and the singing from these talented youth from South Africa is sure to energize and inspire hope.
Every Friday, artists perform for a cause at "Sounds of Hope" at The Potter's House. The series is hosted by my friend, the lovely Mary Shapiro. Artists vary each week, as does the cause. Doors open at 7:00, show usually starts around 8:00. The last Friday of the month is Open Mic Night. Dinner and snacks are available for purchase at affordable rates. All ages, cozy, old school, alcohol free space. They've made some changes to their interior with new carpets and paint and it feels a lot brighter in there now!
