Mothertongue Holiday Open Mic and Big Bear Cafe featuring Ya-Ya!
Tonight! Monday, Decmeber 19th
8:00pm - 9:30pm
All ages, by donation
From the invite "Whatever holiday you celebrate, kick it off with some inspirational spoken words from your fellow women.* Before we all disperse for our vacations (or our stay-cations), let's come together to share poetry, spoken word, journal entries, whatever! We are home to experienced and novice writers alike. This is a nurturing space for women to make their voices heard!
Our feature for this show is Ya-Ya! She's one of DC's own slam poets, having represented our city at the Women of the World Poetry Slam and on multiple teams at the National Poetry Slam. This year, Ya-Ya also helped coach the DC Youth Slam Team. Most importantly, she is a damn good poet.
mothertongue's last show was breathtaking, energizing, and inspiring. Don't miss this one!
$8 suggested donation. *mothertongue is trans- and gender-variant inclusive. If you were raised a girl, identify as a woman, or both, you are a part of us."
