Quique Aviles
Latino Poetry Night at The Fridge
features Quique Aviles, Sami Miranda and Maritza Rivera
Saturday, May 26th
7:00pm - 9:00pm
Free

This evening will be hosted by Quique and will feature bilingual work as well as poems written in English and Spanglish. Hear the unique voices of three Latino poets who are part of the DC poetry scene: Sami Miranda and Maritza Rivera from Puerto Rico and Quique Aviles from El Salvador. Each poet will examine what it means to live in a multi-cultural world through their performance, humor and social commentary. Maritza brings her Afro-Latino-female voice, Sami bring his poet/painter viewpoint and Quique brings his sarcastic, blunt and hilarious outlook.

Also while there, check out the
The DC Latino Collective Art Show
on view through Sunday, May 27th!

The DC Latino Collective is brothers Mauricio Lopez and UNJUANTED (Juan Lopez) and their compatriot Vicente Herrera. The artists present 30 new paintings on canvas in styles such as surrealism and abstract expressionism. See the distinct viewpoint of each artist, rooted in their shared histories.
