The Beltway Poetry Slam hosts a qualifying round of competition to see who will represent DC at the Women of the World Poetry Slam (WOWPS)! The event will be hosted by Shelly Bell and will take place at The Fridge, as usual. Competing poets include: Adele Hampton, Angelique Palmer, Ayanna Gallant, B. Sharise Moore, KaNikki Jakarta, Kristina Byrne, Natalie E. Illum and Tolonda Henderson. Featured poet Tatyana Brown, pictured to the left, will kick off the evening at 8:00pm. Slam to follow.

About the feature: Tatyana Brown ranked fourth in the world at the 2011 Individual World Poetry Slam. She was also founding Captain of The Lit Slam (www.thelitslam.com), a monthly live-audience curated literary journal, and a co-host of San Jose's Oversocial Mofo Revue.
