The 2014 Oscar and Golden Globe winner for Best Motion Picture is the true story of Solomon Northup, a freed black man from upstate New York who was kidnapped and sold into slavery in Louisiana. Dramatic and emotional, the gripping film illustrates the tragic extremes of life in the mid-1800s, and how a brave and determined man survived to regain his freedom.

Evening - Literary Event at the Arts Club - Farragut West
Literary Evening: Authors Ailish Hopper and Alan Michael Parker

The Arts Club presents a reading by Ailish Hopper and Alan Michael Parker, two acclaimed voices in contemporary publishing. Ms. Hopper teaches at Goucher College in Baltimore. Honors for her work include the Center for Book Arts Chapbook Prize. Mr. Parker is the Douglas C. Houchens Professor of English at Davidson College and the author of multiple volumes of poetry and prose. He has written for The New York Times and The New Yorker. Books will be available for purchase and signing.

Evening - US Air Force Chamber Concert - Rockville, MD
United States Air Force Band Chamber Players Series- Woodwind Quintet & Chamber Trio
8:00pm
This concert will present music for winds and cello by two ensembles that are components of the United States Air Force Band. Formed in 2012, the Chamber Trio fits its unique instrumentation of flute, clarinet and cello to a wide variety of repertoire featuring new, original musical arrangements.
