"Ten years ago, the attack on New York and Washington changed the world forever. The Goethe-Institut uses the anniversary of 9/11 as an opportunity to look at a root cause of terrorist attacks and countless wars: a lack of understanding of cultural differences. The films in this series aim to initiate a cross-cultural dialogue and stir the viewer to rethink their own cultural beliefs and habits. All films will be shown in their original language with English subtitles."

About the film: By Comparison (Zum Vergleich) Germany/Austria, 2009, 61 min, Dir Harun Farocki "A brick, its manufacture and its processing as an object allow Harun Farocki to compare work in a traditional society with work in a highly developed society. Purposefully limiting background information to geographical location and a few additional explanations, the film merely provides the spectator with material for making the comparison, leaving the work of doing so up to them."
