The Smithsonian National Museum of African Art presents "Global Africa"
with Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons and Steven Nelson

The Global Africa series presents international artists who are engaging with Africa in their work. Cuban- born American artist Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons discusses her work of the last twenty years with a focus on the installation art, performative photography and cultural activism that has gained her international recognition. Leading art historian Steven Nelson (University of California at Los Angeles) joins the artist in a conversation about her family history in Nigeria, Cuba and Boston, and its influence on her poignant artworks.
Presented in conjunction with Artists in Dialogue 2: Sandile Zulu and Henrique Oliveira. Curator Karen Milbourne will offer a “last look” walk-through of the exhibition at 1 p.m. preceding the Global Africa program. Please meet at National Museum of African Art mezzanine, sublevel 1.
