The night will kick off with a Panel Discussion on "Black Broadway: The Roots of DC Hip Hop" from 7:00pm - 8:00pm which will be podcast live and recorded from The Dunes. Moderators include: James Benson and Kokayi from the DC Hip Hop Project. Confirmed panelists include: W. Ellington Felton – singer/songwriter/actor/poet, Luke Stewart – Editor of Capital Bop, and Stacey Brooks – Blues singer. Additional panelists invited but not yet confirmed include: Tabi Bonney – musician, Big G – Backyard band and Tre – UCB.
The Live Showcase from 8:30pm - 11:00pm will feature the Wes Felton Trio – (invited) Nappy Riddem and the Cornel West Theory. This event, held at The Dunes in Columbia Heights, is co-sponsored by: DC Hip Hop Project, Capital Bop, Fort Knox Recordings and Think Local First DC.
