Weekend East City Event Round Up: Power to the People Edition

Join Lillian Thomas Burwell as she discusses her three-dimensional wall compositions and sculptural installations which blur the boundaries between painting and sculpture. The application of color for its expressive potential is also a feature of Lillian’s work and is a style artists in the DC region have long been known.

Hand Picked is a selection of Washington, DC area artists who work in a range of mediums from paper to wet plate photographs. Curator Grayson Heck, has grouped together artists who, despite working in different mediums, have autochthonously developed a common style.

Local artist Adam Dwight guest curates KING ME: Studies in the Uncivilized World, a multimedia exhibition examining symbols of power through art. These works, created by regional artists, draw attention to the use of power to subjugate others.
